Nowadays the market is filled with 'cool toys' featuring the latest technology. However, instead of an inspiring imaginative play, many of these toys just throw a screen of some sort in front of our kids' faces. Although this is fine once in awhile, I prefer to take the screens away from my children and introduce them more classic toys, like the wooden toys I used to play with.
And just like with modern toys, there are all sorts of wooden toys available that offers lots of fun for kids. Here are some of my favorite ones.
Wooden Tea Set for Toddlers
Toddlers love to play with a toy tea set. However, many of the tea set available today are cheaply made, using thin plastics that break easily. A
wooden tea set for toddlers is a much durable option as it is made entirely of wood. A wooden tea set for toddlers usually consists the same pieces as plastic sets including a teapot, sugar bowl, a couple of teacups and saucers, spoons and a tray. The wood the sets are made of are generally of high quality and some of the cups are even able to hold real water.
Cutting Fruit Set
This is a great wooden food toy for kids. I don't know if you have noticed, but kids always want to cut their own food, so they have lots of fun pretending to cut this wooden food as well. The pieces are generally well-made and colorful and shaped like a banana, pear, orange, apple, etc. A wooden knife (safe for kids) is also included with the set.
Wooden Toolbox
Kids love to imitate their parents. My three year old loves to be daddy's helper when my husband is fixing something or putting something together. A wooden toolbox makes a perfect gift for little helpers. Sets often include a wooden drill, wrenches, a hammer, and more.
Ramp Race
In the past wooden car toys used to be blocky, but modern models have taken a more rounded approach. Ramp race kits often have a minimalist look and are painted with vibrant color. Children have fun figuring out how to get the cars to go down the ramp while learning grasping and holding skills.
Wooden Blocks Set With Letters and Numbers
Wooden blocks that come with letters and numbers on them can be a very interesting way for kids to learn about the numbers and the alphabet. They also encourage sorting, matching, and stacking of different blocks.
