Find the Right Service Cart for Your Restaurant

Many restaurants, hotels and school cafeterias benefit largely from utility trolleys. They are used to transport food and make performing other tasks easier. In hotels you can see them being used for room service, transporting food from the kitchen to the tables. They are fairly light weight and don't require much effort to move, there are several different types each designed for performing different tasks. However, these trolleys are specifically intended for the transportation of food and other light items and should not be confused with heavy duty trolleys such as those used in wear houses.

Materials

There aren't many options to go on when it comes to the type of material the trolleys are made out of. They are either plastic or metal, sometimes a combination of both.
 - Metal is definitely the more durable option and will last longer. They are also very easy to clean and are usually made out of stainless steel. Metal utility trolleys may be more durable, however, if you hit a corner and dent them the likelihood of the dent being visible is greater than one on plastic carts.
 - Plastic utility trolleys on the other hand are much more lighter in comparison with their metal counterparts but they are not as durable and probably wont last as long. However, their lighter construction allows you to move them easily and are less likely to break do to plastic being somewhat flexible however this characteristic may loosen up the whole frame over time from constant loading and unloading.

Shelf Configurations

The shelves can either be enclosed or open, depending on how much access is required. Open designs are usually used for transporting a single order at a time as it allows the employee to easily load and deliver the goods. These types of designs are most frequently used in restaurants where food needs to be served quickly most often from the kitchen directly to the tables. Enclosed shelves on the other hand are used for transporting larger amounts of food but without having to worry about the order spilling out. However this types of utility trolley is more often used by the cleaning staff in hotels where they store all of their cleaning supplies and move them from room to room. Usually, enclosed trolley also have a non slippery surface adding even more protection from spilling. When it comes to the order in which the shelves are stacked, they are usually one on top of the other for both enclosed and open trolleys and have an equal amount of space between them.
