The perks of owning a pool are many. Except for being able to freshen up yourself when the weather is too hot, you would be able to swim whenever you want while staying in shape. Lots of studies have been shown that swimming is just another type of exercise that can help you stay in good shape as that way you are losing calories while shaping your muscles.
And while this is all true, owning pool won't mean a thing if you don't have the needed pool supplies. Generally speaking, these can be found in any pool shop online, but the key is to find the ones that can provide you with good quality for the money. That being said, let's see what are the essential types of pool supplies.
Filter
Besides the pump, the filter plays a major role in keeping the pool water clean and fresh. While the main purpose of the pump is to circulate the water, a filter is needed to sift out debris and grime that accumulate in the pool. Generally speaking, every reliable and reputable pool shop online should provide you with the two basic types of filters: sand and cartridge, out of which the sand one is the most basic. Although pretty affordable, the most important thing you should know about these types of filters is that they do require a lot of maintenance. According to some general instructions, a sand filter should be back washed on every 2 weeks and their best filtering ability is at 20 – 40 micron (small particles) filtering size.
The cartridge types of filters are similar to the carpet vacuum filters and it needs to be cleaned only twice in the season. Its filtering ability is preventing 10 – 15 microns from passing in the water. Except for these two types of filter, nowadays, you can also invest in a DE (Diatomaceous Earth) filters that have a unique system to filter the smallest particles of all about 2 – 5 microns in size.
Vacuum
Just like indoor vacuum cleaners, the pool ones also come in a range of sizes and models. The manual ones are among the oldest and most commonly used type of a pool vacuum cleaner which works the same way a push vacuum works on a carpet, however, there are some other types as well. For example, some other vacuum pool cleaners have a set and go, self-powered crawler system that can do the job for you without the need of your handling and presence.
Multi-purpose Surface Cleaner
Without any doubt, pools can be one of the most contaminated places with bacteria and algae. While the pump, filters and regular vacuuming can put these things at bay, cleaning the pool with some other things is essential, especially its surface. For that purpose, pool owners can use a multi-purpose cleaner as its purpose is to help you tackle regular chores like cleaning the waterline, wiping down exposed parts of the pool ladder, etc.
